Wisla go for Sypniewski

Polish club TS Wisla Kraków have strengthened their Ekstraklasa chances by signing Igor Sypniewski on a four-year deal.

Free to go
The former Panathinaikos FC has been on loan at RKS Radomsko but was free to move on at the start of the winter break. The player was keen on the move to Wisla as he is eager to stake a claim for Poland’s squad at next summer’s FIFA World Cup finals.

World Cup ambition
“I’m ready to fight for the place in national team,” Sypniewski said. “I want to play in the World Cup.” The 27-year-old, who scored three goals for Radomsko this season, has made one appearance for Poland.

Coach happy
“I’m happy Igor will be part of my team,” said Wisla coach Franciszek Smuda, who cut short his holidays to welcome his new player to the Wisla stadium.
