Russian champions FC Rubin Kazan have officially announced their newest signing and roster addition as Rafał Murawski.
Murawski has signed a 3 year contract with the Russian Premier League club.
“It was hard to leave Lech, but in the end I realized that this move was in the right step in my career. I am very happy at what I accomplished at Lech, now am looking forward to continue my career in Russia.” Murawski told Polish media.
The Polish midfielder joined KKS Lech Poznan in 2006, which he previously played for Arka Gydnia and Amica Wronki. Murawski quickly gained a respectable role in the Poznan side and was hailed as the club captain.
A move which has come as a shock to every Lech fan could be soon overlooked with Murawski’s transfer fee being reported as a whopping reported 3 million euros.
The 27-year-old can now look forward to joining his new club who will be appearing in the 2009/2010 UEFA Champions League group stages.
“I was surpirsed when I was told the transfer fee Lech sold me at. This only proves that no other Polish club was able to afford me for such a price. I believe this is why Lech decided to sell me, especially during such tough economical times.”
