LODZ, Poland. Dec 31 — Due to Marcin Robak’s good performances in Widzew Lodz he received a call-up by Franciszek Smuda to the Polish national B-team for the 40th FAT King’s Cup 2010™ .
The media have long speculated that the 27-year-old striker should be in the national team, but the same player himself admitted he was clearly surprised that his league form was at all appreciated by the selekcjoner.
“I will not conceal that the news of my call-up has made me very happy. It is normal for all the players, as we play to eventually be noticed by the coach of the national team.” says Robak after finding out he was selected as the only Unibet I Liga based player.
“Luckily, this happened in my case. I am pleased that Franciszek Smuda noticed and appreciated my game with Widzew,”
Among the players called for the January Poland B-team grouping there are several new faces. “Franz” will now have the opportunity to verify the skills of those players who are distinctive characters in their clubs, but never played on the international level.
“From those called up is Lukasz Mierzejewski of Cracovia Krakow, which I know very well as a teammate from his former days at Widzew.”
“Besides him I know a Jacek Kielb, with whom I played with at Korona Kielce. We lived in one room during a training camp. Seeing him during international duty will not feel any strange.” ensures the Widzew Lodz striker.
