KATOWICE, Poland. Jan 28 — In mid-December information came out that Sabri Bekdas was to invest in GKS Katowice. It turns out that this may soon come true.
The Turkish businessman once already invested in a Polish club, Pogon Szczecin. The club managed to win Vice-championship in Poland, but then everything fell apart very quickly. Not too long ago Bekdas was also interested in investing with Polish champions Wisla Krakow.
On Monday Bekdas met with the authorities of GKS to talk about a possible investment deal.
“He confirmed his willingness to invest in the club, as well as an investment in the city, and these topics are closely related to it,” says a press release by GKS Katowice.
“The investor wants to in a modern and quite innovative way to manage a club in Poland, which would be self-financing. In this case, he would invest in the company GKS Katowice SA, and the city which would also capitalize on this opportunity.”
“In this way the club could reap profits from this investment for the purpose of sporting activity.”
Now the ball is on the side of GKS. They must convince the city of Katowice, to help the rich Turk make the suitable investments in Katowice.
