ROME, Italy. Apr 23 (PS) — Italy’s Genoa CFC has long been thinking about acquiring player the KKS Lech Poznan striker and Polish international, Robert Lewandowski. Living in Italy Zbigniew Boniek believes that ‘Lewy’ deserves better clubs to be going after him.
One of the Italian clubs, Genoa, has been tempted for some time to sign Robert Lewandowski. Same goes with Borussia Dortmund and Blackburn Rovers FC. The Lech Poznan player traveled to Genoa to watch the derby match with Sampdoria. Would he be able to handle himself in the Italian league?
Polish footballing legend Boniek definitely believes so.
“Of course, why not? As Ive said before, if a player presents himself as world-class potential, they can handle themselves in any league. Our country has not seen such a talented player like Robert in a long time, it’s very refreshing.”
“Yes, it may be true that at the moment he may not be at that kind of level, but he is currently one of the best Polish players around. He can certainly afford to reach that level very soon, and possibly be the first Pole in an outfield position in a long time to make a world class club.” claims Boniek.
“In my opinion, Robert can get to play for a much better club than, say, Genoa or Blackburn. The sky is the limit for him. He could surely make almost any top table team, he’s far too good for mid-table teams now.”
So does this mean that Lewandowski should start waiting for an offer from European powerhouses such as Barcelona FC or Manchester United?
“It’s all about timing. Of course, we must remember that this is a business between managers and club officials. Sometimes the direction of transfer is the sum of several other outside factors. Anyway, I really like this player and I wish him make the best decision for his future.”
