ZABKI, Poland. Sept 10 (FN) — Dolcan Zabki’s situation in the 1 Liga has become very dramatic.
Coach Dariusz Kubicki has gone from one train wreck from Wisla Plock in a season to another in Zabki.
Six matches into the new season, only one draw to bottom league dwellers GKS Katowice, and five defeats is what Kubicki has to show for his work at Dolcan.
Such poor streak surely no one in Zabki had expected. Dolcan fell to the bottom of the table and there is little indication that they will quickly dig themselves out of this mess. The worst however, is that the team clearly lack morale to even improve their situation.
“One point after six rounds and there are no promises to make it better. How can you be optimistic,” said one of the Dolcan players.
“We really do not play too well and you can see that in the summer we trained a little bit too hard.”
However, coach Dariusz Kubicki does not agree with these allegations, despite being known for caring out excessive training sessions only for the sake of it that would have rarely any results. It was these training sessions and a combination of poor coaching decisions which led Kubicki’s former club – Wisla Plock relegated from the 1 Liga, along with receiving strong criticism from his players and club management.
“I do not know what the players are complaining. Of course, it has got really ugly now, but we did not lose these games evidently,” notes, ‘Kuba’.
“Even in the last match we played with Sandecja not bad of a game, but so what, when it does not translate into points? I hope that this impasse is already gone in the next match with Piast Gliwice.”
Kubicki holds a contract with Dolcan until the end of the season. At the moment, it is hard to ensure that the Dolcan board will give him an extension. The former Plock coach, however, is not yet thinking about this.
“I have yet to receive a proper ultimatum,” emphasizes the coach.
