WARSAW, Poland. Feb 27 (PSN) – Poland next year maybe facing South American powerhouse Brazil.
According to Przegląd Sportowy, the Polish Football Association is in negotiations to bring the Brazilian national team to Poland.
The match with the Canarinhos would be held in the spring of 2012.
“It’s a mystery for now and no one wants to admit it. Then you may find that nothing will come of it, and again you will have the opportunity to criticism us,” he says one of the employees of PZPN.
However, talks are continuing and apparently will not finish quickly. The agreement may be concluded only in July this year.
While contracting the Canarinhos to a friendly game comes with major expense (at least one million euros), it is in fact at this kind of match the PZPN can earn a lot from ticket sales alone.
Which city would host such a match? It is said that the Polish Football Association is looking for a suitable opponent for the stadium in Chorzow, which is also currently undergoing a thorough renovation.
At stake is also the new National Stadium in Warsaw, but the Polish Football Association must come to an agreement with the National Sports Centre first on the terms of lease
Until now, such match with Brazil in Poland has only happened once. In 1968, the Tenth Anniversary of the Stadium in Warsaw the Canarinhos defeated Poland 6-3.
