KRAKOW, Poland. Sep 23 (PSN) – Confusion around the White Star midfielder’s international future seems to have no end.
Once he had to play for Israel, then for Poland, and most recently… he decided to rather play for no one. It is possible that Maor took this decision because he was bullied.
In a statement presented on Thursday Melikson wrote: “I decided that now I’m not ready to play for Israel or for the Polish national team. This is my personal decision, which has nothing to do with the criticism, which for me has fallen in recent days.”
“I informed the President of the Polish Football Association, Mr Lato of my decision and coach Smuda who have accepted my position with understanding. I decided that it would not be fair to the Polish fans, if I had played in the Polish national team, as well as in the current situation if I went back to the Israel team. I am aware of the consequences of my choice.”
Melikson concluded that at the moment he wants to focus on his game at the club level. And only concentrate on winning the Polish championship with Wisła and have only better performances in the UEFA Europa League.
But what is the reason for the indecision of Wisła Kraków player to go back on his decision to play for Poland?
The Israeli website walla.co.il reported that Melikson received hundreds of text messages and emails, which have been written about him as a traitor, and even threatened him with death!
Author of the text emphasized the outrage they provoked the Wisła player in Hebrew about wanting to play the Polish national team, suggesting that Maor resign from playing internationally from the two national teams in fear for his life.
