Victory with Lithuania After A Poor Game

GDANSK, Poland. June 6 (PSN) – The Polish national team beat Lithuania 2:1 in a friendly that was played on Friday afternoon.

Final score: 2:1

Goals for the bialo-czerwoni came from striker duo Arkadiusz Milik and Robert Lewandowski. However, the game play from team led by Adam Nawalka left a lot to be desired.

Since the beginning of the match, the initiative belonged to the Polish team, which created several early goal scoring chances. These came, mainly from outside the box from Milik, Krychowiak and Piszczek. The goal attempts, however, were either off target or too weak.

Before the first half ended, which looked to be goalless, Lithuania‘s Spalvis scored an unexpected goal after taking advantage of an error in the Polish defense.

In the second half of the game the Poles sought to compensate. A speedy Grosicki crossed the ball to Milik waiting in the penalty box to tie the game in at the 59th minute.

The game was once again led by the Poles, but again they lacked in determination and scoring accuracy. From time to time, the bialo-czerwoni would accurately hit the target, but every time it would be straight at the keeper.

In the 78th minute after a for a foul on Robert Lewandowski, the striker was granted a penalty kick which he scored to give Poland the lead. Later in stoppage time the new Bayern Munich striker should have had his name on the scoresheet a second time, after missing a virtually empty net.
