BUCHAREST, Romania. January 5 (PSN) – Lukasz Szukala has signed with Al-Ittihad Football Club, also known as Al-Ittihad FC of the Saudi Premier League.
The Steaua Bucharest player’s agent says his client will change clubs this winter transfer window.
According to Romanian sports journalist, Emanuel Rosu, the Polish international has already left Bucharest and signed a contract in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudis tempted the Pole with great earnings which was his primary reason for choosing to sign with the club. By playing for Al-Ittihad, the centre-back can count for more than one million euros to be wired to his bank account per season.
Steaua will not be looking to make any problems with Szukala’s departure. His ccontract with the Romanian club expires in June, so this is the last time to make any money off of the Pole.
Therefore, a transfer in January always seemed very highly likely.
News about Szukala moving to Saudi Arabia appeared for quite some time, but each time the player denied any of it.
Now, however, it seems that this is not just a rumor anymore and the ‘Best Foreigner of 2014 in Romania’ is actually leaving.
Szukala will now join fellow countryman Adrian Mierzejewski, who is also playing in Saudi Arabia.
