SWINOUJSCIE, Poland. May 18 (PSN) – After a whirlwind of drama both on and off the pitch, final confirmation of the news many Flota fans feared is now official.
It can now with certainty be announced that Flota Swinoujscie has ceased to exist.
“Well, it happened. The first division football club MKS Flota has ceased to exist,” – reads the official press statement, which was posted on the club website of Flota.
The club due to financial problems withdrew from 1 Liga competition and has begun the procedure of dissolving.
Remaining league matches the team from Swinoujscie still had with: Chojniczanka Chojnice, Wisla Plock, Wigry Suwalki, Bytovia Bytów and Pogoń Siedlce, as well as the canceled matches with Stomil Olsztyn, will be converted to walk overs.
“Right now we are in the process of the termination of contracts with the players.” followed the statement.
The press statement reveals that a new team will be created, which will start the new season in the lowest football tier in Poland.
This means that any return to the first division can take place no earlier than in 2023.
