GDANSK, Poland. June 17 (PSN) – Next month will see the next edition of the highly anticipated SuperMecz.
At the PGE Arena in Gdansk local side Lechia will clash with Juventus in an exhibition match.
The match will take place exactly on Wednesday, July 29th at 2:45 PM EST.
This will be the so-called SuperMecz, the agency organizing this game is Polish Sport Promotion – the same company that two years ago invited Barcelona FC to Gdansk.
Lechia celebrates this year the 70th anniversary of the club, so the “Old Lady” is a perfect rival.
It was in fact Juventus who was the only rival of the Bialo-Zielonych in former European competition.
Zbigniew Boniek and Michel Platini were part of the Juventus team that once defeated the Polish side 7:0 and 3:2 back in September 14 and 28 1983 in the UEFA Winners Cup.
The Gdansk match went down in history of Polish football and politics. The match was one big rally in support of Solidarity, to which Lech Walesa had appeared as well.
Juventus are Italy’s current champion, having played in the recent UEFA Champions League final (lost 1:3 to Barcelona).
