FLORENCE, Italy. September 1 (PSN) – Jakub Blaszczykowski has left Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund after eight years.
The 29-year-old Polish international was loaned out to AFC Fiorentina.
The winger will play on the Serie A club from Florence until the end of the 2015/16 season.
Blaszczykowski played in Dortmund since 2007 after transferring from Wisla Krakow for three million euros.
In the eight years he played in the club colours of BVB he appeared in a total of 253 matches, scoring 32 goals and recorded 52 assists.
“Kuba is not only a great player but also a wonderful person. For him, there was importance of regular play before the finals of UEFA EURO 2016. We wish him all the best in his future career in Florence,” said Michael Zorc, Borussia Dortmund sporting director.
Jakub Blaszczykowski with Borussia won two German titles (2010/11 and 2011/12), the national cup (2011/12), and in the 2012/13 season reached the final of the UEFA Champions League, where his team had to acknowledge the superiority of Bayern Munich (1:2).
Before the start of the current season Juergen Klopp was replaced by Thomas Tuchel as coach in Dortmund. Blaszczykowski did not find favor in the eyes of the new coach and decided the best route would be a change of scenery if he should keep his playing form high.
