SOUTHAMPTON, England. July 1 (PSN) – Jan Bednarek has become the latest summer transfer for Southampton FC.
The young defender penned a five-year deal with the Premier League club, coming over as record £6.5m (£5.2m) record transfer for the Polish Ekstraklasa.
Preparations for the next season for the Saints begin on next Monday. However, due to the fact that Bednarek recently participated in the U-21 UEFA European Youth Championship, he will join the rest of the team later in July after a short break.
The Poland U21 international recently took third place with Lech Poznan for the 2016/2017 LOTTO Ekstraklasa season. For Lech the 21-year-old player was a key player in the Wielkopolski club’s defensive line.
“I am very happy to be able to join such a club as Southampton. This is the moment I’ve worked for that makes my dreams come true.” said Bednarek on the club’s official website.
“I think it’s a step in the right direction for me because I heard Southampton is a good club for young players so I can develop here, “
