WARSAW, Poland. July 7 (PSN) – Arka Gdynia defeated Legia Warsaw in a penalty series on Friday to claim the 2017 Superpuchar title.

Final score: Legia Warsaw – Arka Gdynia 1:1 (PK 3:4)

Michal Pazdan scored an own goal to put Gdynia up early in the game. Fortunately, the hosts didn’t have to wait long to get back into it with Thibault Moulin equalizing for the Legion thereafter shortly.

Eventually, 90 minutes of play was not able indicate a winner. With the score still only 1:1 at the end of regulation time, the game went to penalties. It was a close shootout, but with Legia being denied twice (Moulin and Kopczynski) the penalty score dictated that Arka were the victors.

This was the first time in history the Tri-City club had won this cup.
