WARSAW, Poland. August 17 (PSN) – Legia Warsaw took part of the first leg of the fourth round of UEFA Europa League qualifiers on Thursday and drew at home.
Kasper Hamalainen’s goal helped the Polish capital club take the lead, with Sheriff equalizing only minutes before the end of the game with a goal from Cyrille Bayala.
Legia played a slow and passive style that allowed for little creation for goal opportunities – which saw the team be highly criticized for it after the game. However, Jacek Magiera tried to calm down many angry fans with faith that Legia will manage to win in their away trip next week.
“Five minutes before the final whistle we had a good result, and then there was an unnecessary goal conceded. We are going to Moldova to advance because we can advance to the UEFA Europa League group stage. I am not changing my opinion on this, as that is our duty and I believe in us going through. All we need is to just win 1:0. It is not much and it is possible. And we will certainly fight.” said Legia manager Jacek Magiera after the game.
The second leg will take place on August 24 in Tiraspol.
