LONDON, England. May 11 (PSN) – According to reports from both the UK’s Mirror as well as Italy’s Corriere dello Mezzogiorno, Arsenal may now be in the pole position to sign Polish midfielder, Piotr Zielinski.
In order for this to come to fruition, the Gunners would first be required to dole out €65m (£57m) to Napoli.
This news comes as bit of a surprise as the midfield maestro has been heavily linked to Liverpool for several months now. With Jurgen Klopp’s side enjoying a season beyond their wildest dreams, and having already secured the services of Red Bull Leipzig’s Naby Keita, their desire to ink the 23-year old Polish International appears to have cooled off.
With legendary manager, Arsene Wenger retiring this season, the Gunners, and their yet to be named new bench boss, are looking to overhaul an underwhelming midfield. Although the club did bring in Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the January transfer window, the 29-year old has failed to help Arsenal move the needle on a disappointing sixth place standing in the Barclays Premier League.
Zielinski has had a solid season in the Serie A, making 34 match appearances, netting four goals, while being a beacon of creativity for his Napoli side. Although his numbers do not jump off the screen, the youngster shows flashes of sheer brilliance and has become a consistent performer for both club and country.
On top of that, let us not forget the lofty praise that PZPN President and ex-Poland & Juventus legend, Zbigniew Boniek had for the young Polish midfielder earlier this year:

Regardless of where Zielinski ends up, his future is looking incredibly bright.
