MOSCOW, Russia. June 18 (PSN) – The big question right now for Adam Nawalka and the Poland national team is when exactly will Kamil Glik be ready to play.
Poland fans will of course be hoping for Glik to appear in the team line-up in Poland’s opening 2018 FIFA World Cup group game against Senegal on Tuesday. However, while that may be only a slim possibility, its not out of the realm of possibility.
The Monaco defender was initially thought to be out of the tournament after injuring his shoulder attempting a bicycle kick in training just hours after being named in Adam Nawalka’s 23-man squad.
But he has since made a remarkable recovery and, although it remains unlikely he will play against the African side, Nawalka’s assistant coach Bogdan Zajac says every scenario remains possible.
The 30-year-old is vital to Poland’s hopes of going deep in the tournament, and such is his importance to the team that they did not name a replacement when he was injured in training last week.
The good news is that Glik has already started training with the rest of the team on Sunday, having only done individual training to this point. In addition, he also flew with the rest of the team to Moscow as well on Monday.
While Zajac has said that Poland aren’t completely ruling out Glik’s appearance in the Senegal game, it also shouldn’t be something that fans should be expecting to happen and may come down to a last minute decision.
However, because of Glik’s quick recovery, the chances of him playing in Poland’s second group game with Colombia right now look the likeliest to happen.
