WARSAW, Poland. August 1 (PSN) – Dean Klafuric has ceased his duties as the first team head coach of Legia Warsaw.
Aleksandar Vukovic will take over his duties in an interim role until a new coach is chosen.
Klafuric took over the position on April 14. He won the Ekstraklasa championship and the Puchar Polski with the club, while on Tuesday his team was eliminated from UEFA Champions League qualifying by Spartak Trnava.
According to “Przegląd Sportowy”, former Poland national team coach Adam Nawalka was expected to replace Klafuric.
However, on Wednesday the 60-year-old instead turned down Legia’s offer, citing that “at the moment this is not the best time for him to takeover the capital team”.
Legia are currently undergoing talks with two foreign candidates, which names have not been disclosed. In turn, Adam Nawalka continues his holiday on the Greek island of Rhodes.
