MILAN, Italy. January 29 (PSN) – AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek scored twice in his debut as a starter, helping AC Milan reach the semifinals of the Coppa Italia in style.
The Polish international joined the Rossoneri last week for a total sum of 35 million euros.
He made his debut last weekend in a goalless draw with Napoli, coming on as a late substitute. However, Milan fans didn’t get the chance to see Piatek’s true potential until Tuesday, where the 23-year-old was given the nod to start the match from the first whistle.
That decision proved to be a decisive one, as Milan defeated Napoli 2:0 thanks to a Piatek brace and earned themselves promotion to the semifinals of the Coppa Italia.
“I was expecting a night like this, as I have already said I was born ready. It was nice to score a brace in front of the Milan fans but this is only the start.” Piatek told Milan TV.
“Goals? Both goals were nice but they were a little different. Before the start of the game I spoke to Laxalt and Borini. I told them to try and send me deep passes since I prefer this. I am already focused on our next game against Roma.”
“A star is born? I don’t know, I am just focused on scoring goals. I am in good shape and I am ready to perform.”
“San Siro? It was amazing and it was a big night for everyone here. Milik? I spoke to him before the game, this time I came out on top so I am happy…”.
