LOTTO Ekstraklasa Round 23: Legia Toothless in Lech Loss

POZNAN, Poland. February 25 (PSN) – Legia Warsaw extended their gap with first place after losing in Poznan in the twenty-third round of the 2018/2019 LOTTO Ekstraklasa season.

On Saturday, Lech Poznan were able to defeat rivals Legia 2:0, marking a strong comeback after being demolished by Piast Gliwice just the other week. The win with Legia also marks Lech’s first win earned in 2019, who otherwise had a very shaky start to the new year. Legia on the other hand offered very little in the game against the Poznan club, struggling to create much opportunities upfront and leaving Lech goalkeeper Jasmin Buric without work for majority of the 90 minutes. This loss is now Legia’s second of the year and a sign of the team’s declining form, who previously had lost to minnows Cracovia Krakow. Meanwhile, league leaders Lechia Gdansk accomplished a 1:0 win over Wisla Krakow and put in more distance from the rest of the league.
