UEL: Cracovia Drop Out, Legia Continue to Second Round

WARSAW, Poland. July 18 (PSN) – Cracovia Krakow and Legia Warsaw each took part of the second leg of the first round of UEFA Europa League qualifiers on Thursday.

Cracovia drew at home after a 2:2 (1:0) extra time time result with the Slovak side DAC Dunajska Streda and are the first Polish club knocked out of the UEFA Europa League. Rafael Lopes scored the early goal for the hosts in the second minute of the game, but Connor Ronan equalized just after the break for DAC. In the 94th minute Eric Ramirez scored by capitalizing from a terrible giveaway by Michal Helik, but Erick Davis misfired and scored an own goal afterwards in extra time. Regardless, DAC advance to the second round on the away goal rules, as the first leg ended as a 1:1 draw.

Legia Warsaw won comfortably 3:0 (2:0) against Europa FC from Gibraltar and advanced to the next phase of qualification. Two goals for Legia were scored by Carlitos, while Sandro Kulenovic added another. The first leg ended as a goalless draw, so the pressure was high to capitalize on Thursday and Legia fulfilled the expectations of its fans. In the second round, Legia will face Kuopion Palloseura from Finland.
