PKO Ekstraklasa Round 11: Piast Silence Giants Legia

GLIWICE, Poland. Oct 7 (PSN) – Legia Warsaw were silenced by champions Piast Gliwice i the eleventh round of the 2019/2020 PKO Ekstraklasa season.

The Legion suffered its fourth defeat of the new season after falling 0:2 to Piast on Sunday in Gliwice. The first half ended goalless. Aleksandar Vukovic’s side were undoubtedly more lively, but failed to make full use of their opportunities. Arvydas Novikovas was Legia’s most dangerous and unluckiest player, having a shot on target and then fanning on an open goal situation. Things then took a turn in the second half, with Piast looking to take control of the game. By the 57th minute, the Silesian outfit took the lead. After a pass from the left wing, Piotr Parzyszek side footed the ball on first touch from ten meters past Legia goalkeeper Radoslaw Majeski. Piast soon then doubled the score in the in the 69th minute. This time Jorge Felix entered the list of goal scorers, where he flicked over Majecki after having the ball ricocheted to his feet. Legia attempted to respond afterwards with a header from Jaroslaw Niezgoda, but he was denied with a timely save by Frantisek Plach.
