PKO Ekstraklasa Matchweek 15: Disastrous Legia Extend Losing Streak

ZABRZE, Poland. November 22 (PSN) – Legia Warsaw have found themselves at a new low in the fifteenth matchweek in the 2021/2022 PKO Ekstraklasa season.

The Polish champions on Sunday in Zabrze continued their losing streak after being defeated 2:3 to Gornik. Marek Golebiewski’s side were already trailing by two goals before the halftime break, with goals from Erik Janza and Lukas Podolski putting the Silesian outfit ahead. After a deleterious first half where Legia had almost no offensive sway to speak of, things started to somewhat pick up for the visitors in the second half. Goals by Mateusz Wieteska and Ernest Muci allowed the Legion to seemingly turn the tables around and once again fight for the potential 3 points again. However, it was Gornik who had the last laugh, with Krzysztof Kubica scoring the winning goal to make it 3:2 in injury time, only minutes after his previous goal had been ruled out by VAR for offside. With this away loss, Legia have now found themselves with seven straight defeats, a losing streak that they only last had experienced in 1936 – the same year they were also relegated. Could history perhaps repeat itself this season?
