WARSAW, Poland. July 20 (PSN) – Ondrej Duda successfully passed his medical and signed a contract with Hertha Berlin on Wednesday – announced the official website of Legia Warsaw.
The Slovak’s contract with the Bundesliga outfit is in force until 2021.
The 21-year-old joined Legia in February 2014 from MFK Kosice and already a year later signed a new deal which extended his contract until 2019.
In the Polish Ekstraklasa he played in a total of 67 matches and scored 10 goals.
Strong performances in the Ekstraklasa also opened up the door for Duda to play on the Slovakia national team. At the international level he played 14 games and scored 2 goals. One goal he recorded in the UEFA EURO 2016 group stage against Wales.
“I am very pleased with this move and like to ultimately thank Legia, for whom I would have not been here today if it was not without the help of the club.” Duda told press during his signing with Hertha.
Legia reportedly made 5 million euros on the deal which makes Duda the highest sold player in club history. The capital club originally paid only 300 thousand euros to bring the winger in from MFK Kosice.
Hertha took seventh place in the table of the German Bundesliga last season and reached the semi-finals of the German Cup, which lost to Borussia Dortmund.
In the UEFA Europa League the Berlin club will start competition from the third qualifying round.
